Mangalore Airport
Now Mangalore has its own airport and is well connected with major towns in India by both Indian Airlines and Jet Airways.
Mangalore International Airport (IATA: IXE, ICAO: VOML) (formerly Bajpe Airport) is a domestic and international airport serving the coastal city of Mangalore, India. The airport was opened in 1951 as the Bajpe Aerodrome and the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru arrived on the maiden flight. In 2007-08 the airport handled 10,019 aircraft movements as compared to 6,268 the previous year Recently I visited Mangalore Airport, and I found that the airport doesn't have enough sitting capacity in the departure loungue once you through security check. An international airport needs to have some sort of look so spread the carpet. On the day of travel it was raining heavily so I had to run to the plane; can't they build a pavement system where traveler will be entered directly into the flight. The new runway is really good, make it B747 enable, outside the airport defiantly need some class hotel so tourist will find it easy on delay of flight, Airport roads should be laned properly. These are the minimum requirements that needs to be done.
