Gwalior Airport (IATA: GWL, ICAO: VIGR) is an airport in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India.
The airport is located on the outskirts of Gwalior, the historic city located in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It costs approximately 100 rupees (approx 2 USD) to reach the place from the city centre, which is around 15 kilometers away. Do bargain with the rickshaw-drivers, and strike a deal before you embark on the trip to the airport, if you intend to use a rickshaw.
The airport to the best of my information receives 2 flights a day, both from the national capital of Delhi operated by the low cost carrier Air Deccan. The staff are more than pleasant and at any point, the security and airport staff far outnumber the passengers. Like most small towns, the airport staff are very friendly and chances are they will chat informally with you. Also the service is very personalised.
The airport is currently being renovated. A Tip: It makes eminent sense however to check if your flight has been cancelled and that is a real possibility given the low traffic.Posted by Mr Jaibal Naduvath
