Singapore Airlines
Singapore Airlines is the national airline of Singapore. The airline flies to 90 destinations around the world and has a major presence in Southeast Asia, South Asia, and East Asia. Singapore Airlines is one of the only four airlines in the world to receive a 5-star rating by Skytrax. The origins of the airline can be traced to May 1, 1947 when an Airspeed Consul landed at a tiny airstrip in Kallang, Singapore. The airline was then known as Malayan Airways. Over the next 20 year the airline gradually expanded and in 1966, a year after Singapore became independent, the airline was renamed as Malaysia-Singapore Airlines. In 1972, Malaysia-Singapore Airlines separated into two new airlines - Malaysia Airline and Singapore Airline. This separation resulted in rapid modernization of Singapore Airlines.
