Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service to add 200 more buses in its fleet having GPS facility

May 19, 2008 - The Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service will add 200 more CNG buses in its fleet. The buses would be taken on contract and for the first penalty clause for various offences ranging for not maintaining time schedule to dirty buses has been introduced. In the first phase 100 buses would be taken, Chairman Standing Committee Asit Vora said. They are expected to be on road by August. The buses will have GPS facility.

At present the AMTS has around 800 buses of which majority are on contract. To avoid monopoly of contractors it has been decided to take only 20 buses from each contractor. Besides penalty for late service, more breakdown ratio, dirty buses and others would be introduced. The penalty would be from Rs.50 to Rs.500, Vora said.
